Review of Men in Black

Men in Black is this year’s summer Will Smith blockbuster, and possibly the best yet

Tommy Lee Jones is the only actor I know of who plays the same character in basically every movie, but nobody cares.

This is just fun. Jones hilariously plays the grizzled vet showing the new rookie the ropes, and Will Smith brought in the box office. And for fun, let’s make Vincent D’Onofrio an alien that’s really a bunch of cockroaches in human skin (typecasted). Oh yeah! And let’s get Monk to play another alien of questionable motivations.

But the movie wasn’t just about the cast. The concept was also so much fun, you soaked it up for so long you didn’t even realize there wasn’t a whole lot to the story. But it didn’t matter. The movie wasn’t about making sense, it was about asking questions. And mostly it was just a fun ride to take for a couple hours.

8/10
